Identity in the form of CDs, album cover, and interior sleeve layouts.
Synthetic Saint is a fictional band and I tried to brand it as a new wave/electronic kind of album. It was really nice since the band name was randomly picked out of a bag and I just happened to really like it.
Making this typeface was pretty calming and de-stressing somehow. I call it the "Kelly-barely-knows-what-she's-doing-and-hopefully-the-idea-will-be-approved typeface". It was inspired by this. The context of this image will be revealed shortly.
Modest and pretty boring graphic design beginnings. Photo by Pierre Debusschere.
I don't have a scanner and I have to go great lengths in order to access one, but I really want to try posting more preliminary sketch process work- because it's a crucial part of making an image, I think.
Sneak peek at a possible title. I know, I knowwww, gratuitous use of Bebas and Museo. I only hope Jill and Claire won't castrate me for using this many typefaces at once. Something tells me I am... and "and" and "in" need to be changed to maybe a script?
And this was good practice, something I started in the summer then finished it a few days ago after a dry spell of four months. Personal projects have got to stop being postponed like that. It's really fun to draw like this although it unintentionally reminds me of other styles, somewhat.
Song of the day, randomly obsessed with them this week and they're all I listen to when working. Grreeeaaattttness.
Just updating on a Friday night, no big deal. Final and process. Not the biggest fan of how it looks from afar though. I think the compo could've been more interesting but less is more, more or less...right?
I haven't had any food all day due to working in studio non-stop for many hours, save for some grapes.
Time to eat and force myself to do more work. Woo woo.
Off to a slow start in terms of work during reading week... just fiddling around with my fake album cover textures. Yes, that is indeed tinfoil. I don't really know what direction I want to take yet- this is only the beginning! Blah. I hope it'll shape up soon.
Oh, and my desktop background typeface flow chart you can see a bit of is by http://julianhansen.com/. I found it printed out on the wall in the school and wanted a (digital) copy for myself! Click that link to see it.
I'm SO sad about not being able to go to Canzine with the amazing January and some others. Next year for sure!!! Maybe we'll even display some zines there, who knows.
